Mariah is an artist living in New York. She works with various media but focuses most of her time exploring the realm of digital art and design. She has many interests and hobbies outside of art such as reading, writing, photography, drawing, and painting. Mariah enjoys traveling, cooking and trying new flavors, the outdoors, fitness and health. She also spends her free time learning languages, she has fluency in Italian and Spanish, and she is currently learning Korean, Mandarin-Chinese, and French.
Currently she is working as a Graphic Designer & Digital Media Manager at The Allure Group, a company centered around health care and rehabilitation based in Brooklyn, NY. In addition to her full time position she is also pursing a Master's Degree in Design Management
Some of her past work experience include Graphic Designer at Accusonic Voice Systems, Resident Artist at Nassau BOCES Long Island High School of the Arts, a barista at Starbucks, a concierge Cast Member at Walt Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, freelance photography, freelance illustration and design, and commission-based art pieces. She has completed course work in design and management from Parson's The New School of Design and has received a bachelor's degree in international studies from SUNY Oneonta where she has gained a deep understanding of the world and its peoples, culture, language, and politics. Some of her other studies include user interface and user experience design, digital and studio art, and foreign language.
She firmly believes that having an understanding of the world, and her surroundings, aids her in creating. She feels that it is important to learn what evokes emotion in her audience and what speaks to her viewers.
"Personally I don't like to draw inspiration from one source - I feel my work would become rigid and stale. Instead I like to draw inspiration and knowledge from many sources. Understanding the world around me helps to better understand myself and in turn my style and my art." - Mariah
